Darnell to ddavtian. EG to Darnell EG to dimitrib Schrade to ddavtian. Schrade to chunglau. Hey guys, Since I upgraded my service to the Ultra tier I have been having disconnects. The modem keeps rebooting at random. I have called Comcast and they have sent 2 techs, on 2 different occasions. The modem has been replaced but still having issues. You are not alone! Many well quite a few here, as well as other venues are complaining about Bay area problems. Unfortunately , This is part of the D3 upgrade process or any other MAJOR upgrade , as they attempt to balance the channels, some get worse as others get better.
Darnell join East Orange, NJ. Throughout the whole week we've had random drops in the net modem resets or it just goes stagnant killing activity but not necessarily connections. Same problems in Campbell. I just upgraded to Ultra yesterday, am getting 16 meg down at best.
I'd still recommend calling it in just in case they didn't notice. You know, I am thinking all these modem problems are related to the Comcast Digital Conversion, where they're taking a bunch of channels and taking them to the digital side. Since the cable modem uses QAM, anyone think there might be a correlation as they are implementing this shift?
I know it sounds weird, "TV should not affect Data", etc, but if they're cramming more stuff using QAM, perhaps it's impacting the stability of the cable modems? Yes, I realize that that more space is being created by removing the analog channels. However, they're modulating these channels now over QAM. The equivalent analogy is that if you had two phones in your house, one corded analog for this metaphor , and one cordless digital, for this metaphor. If you got rid of the old corded phone and replaced it with a digital cordless one of the same make and model, you certainly have have a risk for interference.
My uninformed hypothesis suggests that the digital switchover on the TV side might be causing some frequency collisions on the QAM stuff, since now you're modulating both the TV and Data using the same technology. The cable modem is now seeing a bunch of stuff on the line, since it's sensitive to the QAM traffic and saying "What is this stuff?
Dunno, so I will reset". That's not a good analogy.. You still have some misconceptions.. They have been using QAM carriers for quite some time. OK - I'll have another drink and see what comes to me next. This is getting to be very annoying, the modem keeps rebooting over and over again I noticed something interesting today. Anyone have ideas what this could be? Thanks Dave. Probably the QoS that should be there isn't working properly in order to preserve your voice quality.
I had a motorola sb and when I upgraged to the sb, my modem would restart whenever I put any strain on it. I not only changed power cords but I called motorola to make sure that I had the right firmware.
I had everything perfect including power levels. I had no idea of what else to do. So I decided to call my friend's dad because he has experience in cable. Found out the my upstream SNR was amazingly low, so low that he was suprised I was even online. We ran a direct line from the house to the modem and presto, haven't had a problem since. Long story short , get your upstream SNR checked out. Also try running a different direct line from the box. Upstream appears out of range on the transmit power level In the future, don't go by that 3rd party signal chart that you posted.
EG I appreciate your insight and time to respond though! Signals were definitely out of range. After tech removing bad 3-way splitter which was degrading signal and then a second tech replacing a few connectors in the box on the side of the house, things have been stable. There was supposedly something still bad in the box by the road but maintenance team came out and said nothing is wrong in there, signal is good.
But, they did put in a ticket to bury a new line from the box by the road to my house since he said that one is very old and frayed. So currently pending them to bury a new line. Hopefully that will resolve everything. Otherwise, it is an issue with "in house" wiring or the modem. Probably the wiring in the house given how many issues we have had with other stuff in this house.
But, we shall see. Your Home Network. Xfinity Community Forum. No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out SB Hello All, I have an intermittent issue with SB that I've tried reaching out to Comcast on but pretty much they run the same script and send signals to the modem and says it checks out fine.
I would have to disagree since Comcast first referred me to the manufacturer and the signal levels at that time were not good based on the chart from the actual manufacturer of the modem.
They were at 50 or above on upstream and T3 timeouts occurring intermittently in the log and If the company that makes the modem says one range or you'll experience issues and Comcast says something different then what do you go by?
Either way, ranges here were posted after tech removed a 3 way splitter which was degrading the signal. Another tech came out today and found two other bad connectors in the box on the house.
Plus mentioned there's an issue in the box by the road. He logged a maintenance ticket for it to be fixed hopefully this week.
